The grand total.

I am very proud to announce that year 8 made a massive: £7090.30! This means we have made our target of £7000.00 and have broken last years record of £6928.72. Year 8 have done us all proud and deserve a big pat on the back.

Thank you all again,  yet again another very successful charity event for Richard Challoner School.

Have we made our target of £7000.00?

Nearly 100 year 8 students brought their sponsorship money into school this morning and I am a very, very proud year leader. I don't want to disclose the amount collected just yet,  especially until our fantastic finance  office count it but lets just say I believe our target of £7000 is still very much in our reach!

I hope when the rest of the students (25+) bring their money in tomorrow we will have some very good news......Watch this space............

Cheques.....

Many thanks for your support in collecting the donation money. A number of students have seen me today to enquire whether they can bring cheques into school tomorrow. That is not a problem however cheques should be payable to - Richard Challoner School. This will mean we can collate the money in one place and sent one amount to our charity.

I look forward to seeing how much the boys have raised tomorrow. Fingers crossed all there hard work has paid off!

Thank you and Information: Including house winners!

Thank you
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and help in last nights event. The list is endless....to
  • All the staff for giving up their own time to support the year 8 boys.
  • The fabulous year 8 tutors who worked hard to organise and run the event with me:
Mr Mander 8A, Mrs Blackburn 8B, Ms Malik 8C, Mr Tyrrell and Mrs Rochowski 8D, Miss
Allenby 8F and Miss Wilson 8M.
  • All the year 12 students from the charities committee that came down to help us build.
  • The staff who dropped in last night to help.
  • Parents, family and staff for collecting card and sponsoring the boys.
  • Challoner site staff who helped set the space up.
  • Mrs Boulden and Miss Glassett for their excellent publicity skills.
  • Mr A Norton (DT)  for doing a fantastic design assembly, leading the design side of the activity and judging the house competition.
  • Radio Jackie for doing a grand job in raising the profile of the event.
  • Waitrose for supplying the food and helping us make the soup for the soup kitchen.
  • But most of all the year 8 students, for having a great attitude, being so motivated, doing odd jobs for money and tidying the site this morning in 30 minutes. They have shown exceptional cleaning skills, maybe they should try them out at home!
Apologies if I have forgotten anyone, a big thanks to everyone involved.

Rough Sleep Awards Assembly
Please keep checking the blog for more images, reflections on the event and information. Year 8 are having a fun Rough Sleep awards assembly next Tuesday lead by Mr Mander - I will upload the winners names (and losers!) and hopefully images.

House Competition - Winners. Cardboard house design and making.
Congratulations to Agnel and Anish of 8C for winning the house competition. Their rough sleep "house" was creative, built well and it was well thought out - see below. It even lasted the night in the heavy rain! Miss Veglio - Head of house and their tutor Ms Malik were very proud.

Collecting donations for the Joel Community Trust.
Our next challenge is to get the money in from sponsorship. The students will bring money into school in two weeks time (more details to follow via parentmail). We have a very challenging target of £7000 which is the amount raised last year, but remember every penny counts.

Rewards.
The top 25 students that raise the most money will have a afternoon off school (only with the permission from their parents) and the top student that raises the most money will receive BEATS head phones.

To sum up the spirit of the event yesterday I have uploaded a lovely picture of our amazing new head boy Henry Riley (below - left) and his partner in crime Will Moss (aka superman) getting stuck in tidying the site before the event..........Thanks boys!

Right I am off to catch up on some sleep.

From Mrs Owen - Year 8 Leader.
